24 inch PVDF – FRP Ducting for Chlor Alkali Plant New environmental technology of collection of HCL gas from Chlor-Alkali process at 80°C at one of the world´s largest membrane plants in the USA (manufactured by company PROLITE, Canada) PVDF 3,0mm fabric backed sheets and 14” liner tube by AGRU are in use. The major welds were done by sheet butt fusion technique, hot gas welding on circumferential welds. The 14” liner tube is mechanically embedded with glass cloth by PROLITE Plastics Ltd. patented method. Duct system installed outdoors and some field welding applied to major system. The system is calculated for a life time of 20 years.

Steel Pickling Plant of company Wuppermann in Judenburg, Austria PP-sheet material with thicknesses of 10 – 20 mm PP-pipes SDR 11 with diameters of 20 – 63 mm Connection of the sheets by means of hot-gas welding and extrusion welding. Connection of the pipes by means of butt- and socket welding. With hydrochloric acid (90°C) and sodium hydroxide (40°C) the steel bands up to a width of 300 mm can be pickled continuously. The working life of the plant is designed for 25 years.

PVDF - PP-grey – PP natural Sandwich sheets at Janssen Pharmaceuticals Geel; Bromination Bromine is transported, using nitrogen, from a storage tank (inside a building) to 3 reactors (outside the building). Each reactor is provided with a safety box, containing a valve and a pressure gauge. The full core thermoplastic sandwich sheets were chosen for the construction of the safety boxes, based on the following criteria: Inside sheet in PVDF, necessary in case of possible contact with bromine; Outside sheet in PP for the connection (through welding) of standard plastic pipe clips; these sandwich sheets are more competitive (price and technical criteria) than massive PVDF sheets. Wall thickness PVDF 3mm / PP grey 6mm / PP natural 3mm; the sheets are machined in appropriate angles for welding purposes; PVDF welding rod inside the safety boxes; PP RAL7032 welding rod outside the safety boxes.

AGRU piping fully bonded to FRP structure. Internal ECTFE baffles and dip tubes built with AGRU ECTFE sheets and rod. The vessel contains Selenium in Hydrochloric Acid at 90°C, as well as some SO2 gas and traces of H2SO4. All hot gas welding, including Sandwich construction of ECTFE/FRP/ECTFE. (Technique for internal strength). Calculated lifetime in extremely corrosive and high temperature environment to be 10 – 15 years.

Hannover, Germany, June through October 2000 Sheet-Material: PE natural Thickness: from 15 through 50 mm In total approx. 2 tons of material were used. Within the scope of the EXPO 2000 an artist created an Underground Pressure Chamber, which was only accessible by a scuba-diver. The chamber was approx. 15 m³ in size.
